remember the last experience

Awe

Can you remember the last experience you had that left you in AWE?

That overwhelming feeling of reverence, respect, or wonder that you get from being inspired. We often get busy in our everyday lives and sometimes miss the awe inspiring moments all around us.

Childhood is filled with so many moments of awe. If we are lucky we get to be a part of many of them. Maria Montessori was a pioneer in seeing the child’s amazing ability to learn and grow. Her lessons were created to allow students to achieve moments of awe independently. Students in a Montessori classroom are not sitting in rows waiting for a teacher to show them something interesting. They are learning and exploring – using the classroom materials on their own.

Our teachers often experience moments of awe in their classrooms. Whether it is finally achieving that a-ha moment of discovery when grasping new concepts, witnessing acts of heartfelt kindness shared between classmates or even the incredible stillness of a child completely engrossed in a task. Awe inspiring moments fill our days.

Remember to take the time to slow down and occasionally join your child in their explorations and the constant quest for knowledge and share in a moment of awe inspiring wonder at the world we all share.
